Meet Our Founders
Built by industry veterans who understand the challenges you face every day.

The Canadian Mobile Mixer Association was founded by Michael Thompson and Sarah Mackenzie, two dedicated volumetric concrete professionals with over 50 years of combined experience in the industry.
Michael Thompson
Michael started his journey in the concrete industry in 1992 operating a small fleet in British Columbia. Over three decades, he built Thompson Volumetric Concrete into one of Canada’s most respected mobile mixing operations with a fleet of 15 trucks serving major construction projects across western Canada.
“I’ve seen firsthand how mobile mixing can transform project timelines and quality control. Our industry deserves a dedicated voice.”
Sarah Mackenzie
With a background in civil engineering and 20 years managing concrete operations in Ontario and Quebec, Sarah brings technical expertise and regulatory knowledge to the CMMA. She pioneered new mix designs specifically optimized for volumetric mixers that are now industry standards.
“The future of concrete is in precision, sustainability, and on-demand delivery. Mobile mixers lead in all three areas.”
Together, they founded CMMA in 2020 to create a united front for Canada’s mobile mixer operators, focusing on:
- Developing national standards for volumetric concrete production
- Providing technical training and certification programs
- Advocating for fair regulatory treatment across provinces
- Building a community of innovation among concrete professionals
